Boni&Sidonia

Choose the size for the baby's first steps well

At Boni & Sidonie, we know that a good start starts with a pair of well-fitted shoes. Choosing the right size is essential to ensure your child's comfort and safety, as he explores his first steps or races.

Why is it so important to choose the right size?

Baby's feet are delicate, growing, and every millimeter counts! Too tight or too large shoes can hinder the movement and even slow the development of the shoes. Our models are designed to perfectly marry the small feet and accompany them in every step of their growth.

HOW TO KNOW THE BÉBÉ POINT?

Your baby's starting to get up, or more simply, you want to buy her slippers? But what size does your lovely baby make? Not obvious to determine at that age.

It is essential to know the baby size, because you can wash his feet without wanting to. Indeed, a baby has the bones of his feet still very soft, and putting on shoes too small can distort his feet. Too big, the shoes will make him stumble.

A baby won't tell you if the size suits him!

Then measure the small foot in centimetres by referring to our guide of the sizes below which will convert the centimetres of the small foot to size.

(see Section FIND THE BEBE POINT at the bottom of the page)

WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP FOR A BABY?

For your baby's first steps, we recommend:

- Especially leather shoes!

- Ideally yaw shoes to better support him.

- Baby shoes not too rigid for him to walk smoothly.

- A high stem to keep her ankle.

Baby shoes in leather or suede?

There are many prejudices about suede shoes. But I often recommend them for the little ones: The suede is flexible. He's using himself less quickly than leather. It is dyed in the mass and skates better.

HOW TO MEASURE BEBEHIND?

It's always a headache for our baby, because we don't know what he thinks. But how old can we put shoes on our baby? The first size found in shops is the 16 which corresponds to an age of 0 to 3 months, then size 17 to an age of 3 months to 6 months, size 18 from 6 months to 9 months, and the 19 from 9 months to about 1 year. The best is to measure the small foot in centimeter and refer to our size guide. Because each baby grows up differently, some are chubby and have a big kick, others have on the contrary very fine foot. Then some walk at 9 months and slip 17 or 18, it's not easy to find the right baby shoe but you can find them on our website. So you have to measure your baby's size at best. Ideally, if he starts standing or if he is already walking, he must stand on a firm ground, put a sheet of paper under his feet and draw a line around his foot. You will then need to measure the two furthest points. Then you will need to refer to our size guide to determine its size. In case of doubt, send us an email ([email protected]) with the result of your measurement in cm and the desired models. If your baby is not still standing, you should take a hard support, like a cardboard box and put his foot against it and draw the contour of the feet.

FIND THE BEBE POINT WITHOUT PEDIMERS:

  • Put a sheet of paper on a flat, rigid surface along a wall.
  • Put your baby up on the leaf, heel against the wall.
  • With a pen, draw a line at the longest fingertips on the sheet.
  • Keep the pen straight if possible when contouring, ensuring that it keeps contact with the feet constantly.
  • With a ruler, measure the distance between the edge of the sheet and your line to determine the length and width of the foot.
  • Add 1cm to your result and divide by 0.666.

GOOD TO KNOW:

6.6 mm separate two sizes, so you can use this calculation for the whole family, and even for yourself!

(Size in cm + 1 cm) / 0.666 = your size
